Our goal is to bring you the most beautiful dried florals so you can make your space feel more alive, calming, and provide a sense of peace. Eucalyptus most definitely hits the mark! Its subtle green tones and unique physical appearance let it blend in nicely with any style of décor. But did you know that eucalyptus has so many other properties that make it the perfect fit for your home?
Eucalyptus has a fragrant and subtle smell that is not only lovely, but relaxing. Studies have shown that aromatherapy using Eucalyptus reduces stress, anxiety, and can alleviate depression. This is because in contains Eucalyptol (Cineole). Simply place a few stems in the bathroom while you shower and let the steam infuse the washroom with a calming sensation!
Can Relieve Cold Symptoms
That is right! Eucalyptus can relieve cold symptoms by simply breathing in it’s fragrant scent. Cineole can help clear nasal passages and reduce mucus in the nostrils. Eucalyptus reduces inflammation in the lungs and will help you breathe easier.
What doesn’t Eucalyptus do? Limonene, which is also found in Eucalyptus, is known to help reduce pain. One study found that subjects who inhaled Eucalyptus after surgeries had significantly reduced pain compared to the control group. It’s anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety properties correlate to how patients can reduce their heart rates and feel less pain.
Have pesky mosquitos and flies hanging around? Cineole acts as a bug repellent and can keep those pests away for up to 8 hours. While typically Eucalyptus essential oils repel bugs most effectively, we have put some stems in our own backyard to see how well they work at keeping away the mosquitoes. So far so good!
Eucalyptus’s anti-bacterial properties help reduce plaque and bacteria in the mouth, thus improving the health of your teeth. Eucalyptus extract is often added to mouthwash and certain types of gum for this reason! Check this study out on chewing Eucalyptus gum for tooth health.
Treat Dry Aging Skin
Ceramides are a type of fatty acid that act as a barrier to help you skin retain moisture. This helps your skin stay looking vibrant, fresh, and young. It also reduces skin conditions like psoriasis and dermatitis. Eucalyptus Leaf extract has been found to increase the levels of Ceramides when applied topically. This research is recent, and more investigation is needed, however with all of the other benefits of Eucalyptus, why not give it a try?
Eucalyptus has very high Antioxidant properties. Don’t eat our Still Living Floral leaves though! Get the benefits from making tea. The main flavonoids in eucalyptus include catechins, isorhamnetin, luteolin, kaempferol, phloretin, and quercetin. Antioxidants are known to help prevent cancer, repair damaged skin, and promote general health. One study showed that a high diet in Flavonoids reduced Heart Risk in woman by 18%!
All-in-All, Eucalyptus has so many benefits beyond its obvious natural aesthetic and beauty. We love styling bouquets, homes, and bundles with Eucalyptus. But we love all the added benefits even more.
